Engines Southwest was started over 50 years ago as an air cooled engines parts distributor. As the company evolved, it became a central distributor for Tecumseh, Kohler, and Murray. Engines Southwest focused on providing the best fill-rates, service support, and service training in the industry to support these OEM brands in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and New Mexico. Engines Southwest built strong dealer loyalty both through their ability to supply dealers with these important lines and their strong service-oriented mentality.
These 3 OEM parts lines were the foundation of Engines Southwest’s business until 2003, when Carswell Distributing Company bought Engines Southwest and introduced them to the equipment business. Through this expansion, Engines Southwest was able to become a complete outdoor power equipment source – offering commercial and residential equipment as well as OEM and after-market parts. Today Engines Southwest continues to focus on what has created dealer loyalty for many years: excellent service.
Engines Southwest’s parent company, Carswell Distributing Company, was founded in 1948 by Robert E. Carswell as a wholesale-distributor of electric water pumps in central North Carolina. Over the years Carswell brought many product lines to the market, including toys, personal care products, consumer electronics, and major home appliances. Carswell has adapted its business to many growing product life cycles, markets, and changes in its business environment. Carswell is a major marketer and distributor of outdoor power equipment, home heating products, and power sports parts. In addition to our core business, Carswell provides business development services and logistics support to several consumer product companies.
